Dr. Shane McCormack is a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic and a Certified Active Release Techniques (ART) provider who graduated from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in 2001. He attended Brock University in St. Catharines, ON where he received his Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. Following his residency at rehabilitation clinics in Minneapolis, MN and Scottsdale, AZ, Dr. McCormack spent 3 years in private practice in his home town of Atikokan, Ontario, at the Atikokan Medical Clinic. He moved his practice to Thunder Bay in 2005, and has enjoyed private practice here ever since.
Dr. McCormack emphasizes the role of muscle and other soft tissue in pain syndromes. He has an extensive knowledge of soft tissue and repetitive strain injuries, and utilizes functional restoration as the focus of his care. He strongly believes in an integrated approach to Chiropractic care which combines the effectiveness of several disciplines to provide a more rounded approach to the care of each individual patient. His diverse clinical approach combines Chiropractic, Active Release Techniques, Graston Technique, Kinesiotaping, soft tissue mobilization, and exercise rehabilitation, directed at the enhancement of functional performance.
Dr. McCormack believes that the role of a Doctor is to be a teacher. As such, he educates his patients on how to stay healthy, active, and to avoid injuries. He strives to deliver immediate and lasting relief from pain and enhanced quality of life.
When he is not helping patients, Dr. McCormack enjoys spending time with his wife and young son, as well as fishing, camping, skiing, and CrossFitting.
